I am the son of Pancho Guedes who practiced in Mocambique, exhibited at the Bienal de S Paulo in 1961.
In 2009, I curated a major retrospective exhibition of his work at the Museu Coleccao Berardo at the Centro Cultural de Belem in Lisbon.
I have recently uploaded the complete catalogue of the PANCHO GUEDES – VITRUVIUS MOZAMBICANUS exhibition with images and drawings of Pancho’s buildings, sculpture paintings and drawings. This material is available at:

I am currently a Senior Lecturer in Architecture at the University of Queensland in Australia.
In addition to Harry Seidler, there were other architects in Australia who were heavily influenced by the work of Brazilian colleagues before the mid 1970s. James Birrell, in particular, working in Queensland was able to resonate with the spirit of brazilian architecture in our sub-tropical climate. There were others.
The South African connection with Brazil is treated at some length in a chapter: Gus Gerneke “From Brazil to Pretoria” in: Roger Fisher & Schalk Leroux with Estelle Mare – Architecture of the Transvaal, Pretoria: University of South Africa, 1998, pp. 196-229.
I do hope that greater exposure is given to the Architectures outside Europe, North America and Japan.
